FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Permanent Cosmetics?

The process of gently depositing pigment (color) into the skin to enhance your natural beauty  (accenting the eyes, eyebrows, or lips.) There are also Perimedical procedures to repigment the areola and nipple after breast reconstruction surgery. Some clients utilize the assistance of micropigmentation to camouflage scars or birthmarks.

Is it Uncomfortable?

There is very little, if any discomfort. A topical anesthetic is used to numb the area being accented. Most clients say tweezing their eyebrows felt worse.

Is it Safe?

Yes. Sanitary conditons and procedures regulated by OSHA are in effect at all times. All instruments and supplies are sanitized and/or disposable.

What can I expect after the procedure?

Immediately following your procedure you may experience some redness and swelling that will subside within 1-3 days. Initially, your permanent makeup will appear darker, brighter, and more dramatic and will lighten and soften within 1 week. There is no 'down time'.

Many clients take advantage of the one-time touch-up application within 45 days of the initial procedure. This additional session is included in the price.

After my first procedure, I noticed spotty areas that didn't seem to take, while other areas seemed to accept the pigment better. Is this normal?

This is completely normal, and is exactly why there is a complimentary touch-up included in the price! In the profession, we call these spotty areas 'holidays' and they are normal. When working on a client, I am extremely conservative because we can always go back in and make a color lighter or make an area thicker in your touchup visit~ being this is a permanent procedure, I would rather go slow and in increments until we get the perfect look we both desire for you! Two visits are the norm before the process is considered complete.

Some of my family members are having a difficult time accepting I want a "tattoo". What can I tell them to convince them this is a different kind of procedure? Help!

I hear this alot. You are born with eyebrows, pink lips, and thick full eyelashes that enhance your eyes. For many of us, these features thin and fade as we age. The procedures I offer are simply giving you back the features you were born with, not adding unnatural cartoons to your body! (How many people are born with a skull and crossbones on their upper bicep?!) When it's explained this way, most family members see there is a night-and-day difference in wanting to receive a permanent cosmetic procedure versus a traditional tattoo.

How long does the procedure take?

Dependent upon which procedure is done, they usually range from 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

How long will it last?

Although 'permanent', the pigments can fade over the years. Tanning and sun exposure, certain medications, anti-aging products,  lifestyle factors and your skin type play a part in how long your pigment will retain its true color. Some clients may need a retouch within 3 to 5 years. Before leaving your appointment, I give tips on how to prevent fading and helping your new enhancement last longer.

Is it costly?

No. When you consider the cost of cosmetics and the time saved from applying makeup, you actually save in the longrun. You will apply your makeup approximately 3,650 over the next ten years! And looking your best at all times is considered by most clients as 'priceless'! Ask about our specials and pricing options, too!

Why do Prices differ from place to place?

You will often times see extraordinarily inexpensive services offered and I caution you here~ check their training credentials (a minimum of 60-100 hours of training on live models), proof of liability insurance, have they taken Health Department-approved Bloodborn Pathogens training?, do they reuse their tools?, and what industry professional memberships do they hold? If they fail to prove any of the above~ Run! Corrective work costs a minimum of $400 per hour and in some cases, it doesn't work and you are stuck with the 'bargain priced' work on your face forever!

How old do I have to be to get Permanent Makeup done?

According to law, anyone receiving a permanent cosmetic procedure must be at least 18 years old.
